Kai Nieminen

Kai Nieminen studied at the University of Jyvskyl, at the CFCM and at the Sibelius Academy in addition to having been a summer camp student of Stepan Rak, Vladimir Mikulka, John W. Duarte and Giuliano Balestra and having participated in master classes under Leo Brouwer and Julian Bream. He has performed as a recitalist in Finland, Russia, Italy and the former Czechoslovakia and has played as a soloist with orchestras in Sweden and Finland. Kai Nieminen has composed music for the guitar, for several chamber ensembles and for orchestra. The National Radio has broadcast his work as composer as well as guitarist.


Bert Kwakkel made a concert guitar type Luscinia for Kai Nieminen in 1991 and a type Merula Special in 2009.
