August 2010 - Bert Kwakkel gave two lectures about guitar making in the UK. The first one for the National Youth Guitar Ensemble (NYGE) and the second one at the York Guitar Festival. This wonderful festival was organised by Ruth & Robert Owen and their daughter Amie.
Armrest for classical guitars
These days, Bert Kwakkel increasingly integrates armrests into his concert guitars. An armrest offers several advantages:
- Sharp angle eliminated for even more playing comfort
- Right arm no longer damps the top
- Right arm slides naturally,
which stimulates playing with tone coloring
There are three types of armrests:
